First Post

This is my first post for my a level blog thing so sorry if it's not very good. Um we were given psalm 139 to read and try to understand in preparation for a seminar next week. It seems to be about how God knows everything about us and there's no point trying to hide behind bravado or being someone that you're not because God will always see you as you are. Even if you feel alone or isolated there is always something that knows you and understands you and takes the trouble to properly look at you.

It also seems to talk about how you can't get away from God. The line about trying to understand God's 'thoughts' "I try to count them- they are more than the sand; I come to the end- I am still with you" seems to show that trying to understand and question God will only bring you closer to him and no matter how much you question God and the way he works etc you will never doubt his existence (that remains to be seen but anyway). The last part talks about how much the protagonist hates people who speak against God and whatnot, this seems to imply the psalm was written as a response to people who were starting to question God.

right that's probably it, see you later, Ellie
PS at the moment I've been reading Sophie's World which is really good and i'd highly recommend it. It's about someone teaching a 14 year old girl called Sophie about the history of philosophy, meanwhile her life seems to be mysteriously intertwined with a girl called Hilde. Anyway it's really good and the story's very unusual and unique, so yeah miss said to talk about stuff we'd read and i've read that. Bye!

  1. Sophie's World is awesome - have you finished it yet? What did you think of the ending?

This is fine, but I would have liked to have seen your reflections on this text after the seminar.

Furthermore, where are the rest of your blog posts, Ellie??? This equates to one homework out of a possible three, and no record of independent study for the subject...
